Drinking Water: Make Sure You Get Enough
How to do so.
If you’re trying to live a healthier lifestyle at the moment, then you may be surprised to hear that water may very well be the best thing that you could use in order to achieve this. Water is one of the most natural things on the planet, and this means that it can do a lot of good for your body if you choose to drink more of it. We see it all over the place that we’re supposed to be drinking eight glasses of the stuff per day, but yet it can be a little bit confusing to know what counts as water, how we’re supposed to fit all that drinking in, and the health benefits that it can actually have for us.
The first thing that we need to think about is what water can actually do for us. Firstly, many people mistake feeling thirsty for being hungry. When this happens, you will end up eating a lot more food than you really need to, and this means that you might put weight on which obviously isn’t healthy for you. If you start to drink more water, you won’t get this feeling, and it means that you’re much less likely to choose unhealthy snacks. If you drink enough water, it can really help for all of the processes in your body to happen properly and this means that you will look and feel a lot healthier. Your skin will be brighter, your hair and nails will be healthier, and this means that you could very well end up looking like a completely new person, which surely can only be a good thing.
The main issue that people have is the fact that they find water too boring. The good news is that any liquid counts, including tea and coffee. Obviously too much caffeine isn’t good for you, but having the odd cup here and there all counts towards your liquid total for the day. In addition to this, you could always add squash to the water which would make it taste a little better. You should try to make sure that you get sugar free squash though, as sugary drinks are unhealthy and would defeat the object of trying to drink something that would make you healthy in the first place. Good news as well is that a lot of the liquids that you need comes from your food. If you eat fruit and vegetables, you will find that they are juicy and can help with your total. Even chocolate has a small amount of water in it, although you shouldn’t use that as an excuse to eat too much of it!
If you work at a desk or you’re a student, then you should try to keep a bottle of water by your side at all times during the course of the day. Every time you take a break, have a few sips, and you should find that it helps you through the day a little bit when your energy levels are dropping. You should be drinking about two litres of water per day, so if you take a one litre bottle of water to work, and have a glass with your breakfast, dinner and then a cup of tea or coffee at some point, you should find that this is more than enough to get your total in for the day.

Drinking a lot of water is good provided that you have to significantly decrease sodium and glucose intake to prevent water retention. Nice post! I drink a lot of water before sleep.

Thanks for the motivation. I am struggling to maintain the water in my diet. I seem to have so much doing that I just can’t remember.

Of course, the other side of this is drinking too much watch & monitoring your water intake. Some people have actually drowned for taking in too much water, but that’s rare. Instead, if they notice that suddenly they’re drinking a lot more water than normal, it could point to a health issue they should look into.
And, of course, new studies say that most people are taking in enough water if they’re eating certain foods, so that should be evaluated as well. Good stuff.
