Benefits of Drinking More Water

We all know that water is vital, but how beneficial can it actually be? And does drinking soda pop really count as drinking water? If you’re currently thirsty while reading this text, you’re already dehydrated.

Our bodies are made up of about 70% water.  Because of this scientifically sound fact, it is essential that we all drink water on a constant basis.  But since many of us drink soda and other carbonated drinks, does that really count towards the amount of water we should all drink everyday?  In order to answer this question, we must first look at the ideal amount of water that people should drink on a daily basis.

How Much Water Do We Need?

Many old science books and health professionals say that eight cups of water a day is sufficient enough to keep our bodies healthy.  And while this is generally true, things many of us do may cause us to need more water.  Exercising and living in overly hot areas may cause us to require more water.  Limiting yourself to eight cups of water a day would not be a healthy choice if you plan on running several miles or are living in a very hot climate that causes you to sweat more often than usual.

But who can be bothered to measure out all that water?  Eight cups a day is equivalent to about four bottles of water.  Since many of us grab for water bottles faster than we drink from the tap, a general rule is to drink about four bottles a day of clean and clear water.  Obviously, if you are exercising or perspiring excessively, you may want to up that amount to about five or six bottles of water a day.  It’s a good idea to also bring a bottle of water to bed with you.  If you wake up thirsty during the night, don’t deprive yourself water by rolling over and going back to sleep.  Being thirsty is the first sign of dehydration.  You should always drink water, even if you aren’t thirsty.

The Type of Water We Should Drink

Drinking plain, clear spring water is the ideal choice when it concerns the type of water we should drink.  There are many powder mixes that can enhance the taste of the water and add valuable vitamins and nutrients to the beverage.  These mixes can be great for someone who doesn’t like the taste of plain water.  You should always drink clean water and avoid water that comes from your tap.  Alternatively, you can install a water filtration device to your sink in order to make the water fresher and cleaner.

But what about the people who live off of soda and other caffeinated drinks?  There is a lot of controversy concerning the molecular benefits of drinking soda as opposed to drinking plain water.  Since soda is a drinkable beverage, many people feel that it counts towards the eight cups required for a healthy adult everyday.  Some may debate in saying that soda is full of sugar and other harmful toxins that can actually make us thirsty.  The truth of the matter is that soda is made up of water.  Unfortunately, the water is mixed with lots of sugar and ingredients that make the beverage fattening and unhealthy.  The amount of sugar in soda will actually dehydrate you.  In retrospect, the water in the soda will quench the thirst that the sugar in the soda caused.  It is a no win situation and thus, soda should be avoided if you are looking to start a more healthy diet.

Benefits of Drinking More Water

Would you believe that drinking more water can do more for us than flush out harmful toxins from the body?  Because a large majority of the human body is made up of water, drinking more of it will replenish bones, blood, and improve brain function.  You can actually fight off certain diseases such as osteoporosis and leukemia by drinking more water.  Our blood is made up of 82% water and because of this, water acts as a natural and amazing blood cleanser.  Our brains, which are also made up of water, can function better with more hydration introduced into the body.  Toxins and harmful chemicals may buildup over time in our intestines and in our blood.  By drinking more fluids, you can eliminate these toxins and create a healthier body overall.

Drinking more water can also help relieve certain mental health issues that many of us suffer with on a daily basis.  Depression, anxiety, and insomnia can all be treated with something as natural as water.  There are also beauty benefits when deciding to drink more fluids.  Water helps to keep hair, skin, nails, and eyes healthy.  People who suffer from dry eye that may be caused from contacts or laser eye surgery will help relieve their symptoms by drinking water.  Skin problems can be healed as well.

Dry skin can be relieved by drinking more water.  Those who have acne may find that drinking more water cuts down on the amount of breakouts they have.  Water actually flushes harmful toxins from the body.  Toxic buildup will usually make us tired, lethargic, and may even cause skin problems such as acne.  By flushing out the toxins, you will feel more energetic and have clearer and brighter skin.  Think of water as a natural detoxification for the entire body.  By drinking more of it, your body will respond better and be healthier than ever before.

    Water is very useful for human health. I try to drink atleast 8 glasses of water each day.
