Dengue-Carrying Mosquitoes: Daylight Vampires
Dengue could kill.
Mosquitoes that carry dengue are for me “daylight vampires”. They do not suck blood during dark nights but during days and daybreaks. They suck blood during daylight and at a time when the lights are about to depart or to enter the earth.
They also thrive among people. The dengue carrying mosquitoes delight on human blood! What is more buzzling to my mind is that they procreate in clean stagnant bodies of waters.
Here is a story of a child who was striken by dengue and survived. We will not use their true and correct names.
Harvey and Helen have a 2-year old girl. They live in a shoreline at the Davao gulf, Mindanao, Philippines. Their child did not show any known symptoms of dengue like frequent on and off fevers and rashes. However, the child showed only signs of discomfort. Her parents ignored her complaints until such time that she displayed bleeding nose.
She was rushed to the hospital. The doctor recommended blood transfusion. Blood platelets were immediately introduced to her veins.
To this date, the child is lively. Yet, the trauma of dengue may never leave her parents’ minds as she almost died because of dengue.
