California Ground Squirrels

Few things to know about California Ground Squirrels.

California Ground Squirrel is a common ground squirrel found in the United States and Peninsula. It is also found commonly in California and Oregon. The range of California Ground Squirrel has now extended as they are also found in Washington and Nevada now.

The upper parts of the squirrel are coated with fur of gray or light brown color. The color of fur around the eyes is white in color and around ears is black in color. California Ground Squirrels are about 12 inch long starting from head and it has a bushy tail that allows it to provide balance and support while climbing or jumping.

California Ground Squirrels lives in burrows and can be easily tamed to be a pet and they are quick learners when trained.

California Ground Squirrels feed themselves on plants and tress and so are also considered as pests for gardens. In colder region they hibernated for months but in other parts they are active throughout the year.

    Interesting article. I saw a squirrel the other day that had stripes. Not sure if it’s a ground squirrel or a chipmunk.
