Brain – Evolution of The Frontal Lobe

Have you ever thought about what region of the brain should continue to evolve at a extremely fast rate in order to keep humans on top of the world?

Of all the regions in the brain, I believe the frontal lobe could be an essential insight into evolution which therefore requires more research and further tests into any of the mysteries regarding how the frontal lobe evolved. This then could give us an insight into how the frontal lobe will continue to evolve over time – that is surely going to give us an advantage.

The frontal lobe performs some of the most important functions in our wakings lives, including: creative thinking, future planning, decision making, artistic expression, emotional behaviour, memory, language and motor control. That’s just a glimpse into the frontal lobes functions; we cannot deny the enormous impact it is going to have in shaping our lives, but also the lives future generations.

We see the consequences of a dysfunctional frontal lobe by observing the behaviours exhibited by people. There are various disorders which has proved that, it is crucial that medical professionals identify damage to frontal lobe as early as possible and I hope they can discover a lot more, because it would resolve so many problems in the world.

Damaged frontal lobe causes the following impairments:

  • Loss of creativity, incapable of problem solving, unable to utilize IQ
  • Deviant sexual behaviour or total loss of sexual interest
  • Reduced sensory perceptions
  • Aloof as well as being unable to comprehend emotions or exhibiting odd social skills
  • Easily distracted, poor short term memory
  • Disregard for authority and no comprehension of deception

We know that social skills, power of creativity, problem solving and good memory are essential in the evolutionary process, that is, if humans are going to be evolving into something stronger mentally.
