Strange Strawberry Sex
All you need to know about how strawberries reproduce.
Strawberries can reproduce both sexually and asexually. The difference is that reproducing sexually requires another being, such as pollen needing a stigma. Whereas asexually means that they are able to reproduce without the help from another being, just by themselves. They do this by formation of runners or stolons.
Runners, or stolons, are long slender stems that grow along the surface of the soil and produce new shoots and roots when nodes on the runner come in touch with soil. Strawberry is a complete flower, which means it has both male and female flower parts, but strawberry flowers need assistance to move pollen from the anthers to stigma. Bees provide good pollination for strawberry plants.
