Oleander
It’s a common and beautiful plant found blossoming in gardens – but does anyone know how fatal it can be. It is one of the most toxic plants containing oleandrin and nariine, both very toxic compounds. It is reported that only a small amount can kill a young child. Even the milky white sap from the stem can have adverse action. One leaf can be enough to kill a man. So whatever you do, keep the oleander at bay!
Brugmansia
Brugmansia or commonly called “Angel”s Trumpets’. These are beautiful flowers that grow in the shape of trumpets, and can be found in colors of white, orange, pink and yellow and have a delicate fragrance. Despite the splendor, this plant can often be fatal. All parts of the plant contain tropane alkaloids scopolamine and atropine.
Daffodil
Daffodils are the glorious heads of honor in the flower family, found in spacious beds growing to full bloom, their bulbs contain varieties of alkaloid poison lycorine. The bulbs cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Stems also cause headaches, vomiting, and blurred vision. A nibble of this plant can have adverse effect and in sufficient quantity – it kills.
Yew
It is a species of conifer found in various parts of the world. It is commonly called “common yew” or “european yew”. The pant bears small red berries which are an exception to the toxic qualities of the plant. Any part other than the flesh of the berries surrounding the seed, if digested can quickly lead to death. Common symptoms include difficulty in breathing, collapse, tremors and in the end heart failure.
Apple
The most common of all food plants, the apple is deadly. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but its seeds sure do not. The right amount of seeds, if ingested can kill an adult. Take care that young children do not swallow the seeds.
Castor Oil Plant
The castor oil plant is widely used for the production of castor oil, but eating parts of the plant can prove to be fatal. From common sources, less than three seeds can kill a child and it takes eight or more to kill an adult.
Wisteria
These climbing wines sure look beautiful up on the wall, but beware, their seeds are sure killers. It can take less than two seeds to kill a child.
