Plants differ from animals by the following characteristics:

  1. They have green leaves.
  2. They have roots, stems, and leaves.  Others bear flowers, fruits, and seeds.
  3. They grow in upright direction with the  roots moving downward and the stems and leaves growing upward.
  4. They cannot change their habitat.
  5. They grow in places where they can obtain water.

Classification of Plants:

  1. Trees: They grow from 3 meters to 20 meters.  Some grow tall and crown-like.  Others grow tall and narrow.
  2. Shrubs: They grow to a medium height of about one half meter to a little higher than man’s height.  Ornamental plants are belong to this group.
  3. Grasses: They reach a height of 2 to 3 centimeters to about one half meter.  Herbs, lawn grass, garden weeds, and other grass species are belong to this group.

Other Scientific Classification of Plants:

  1. Algae: They do not posses roots, stems, and leaves.  The majority is microscopic.  Others grow to 15 centimeters.  They usually grow in the barks of trees or on the soil and making them look greenish.  Mostly, they are green in color.  Seaweeds are belong to this group.  Some are edible like Gracilaria (red seaweeds) and Gamet (Porphyra) Caulerpa is served boiled and steamed.  Others are served fresh as salad.
  2. Fungi: They are as same as fungi except they do not have chlorophyll.  They cannot manufacture their own food.  They depend on others for their food.  Bread molds are good example.  Penicillium is a species of mold that is source of antibiotic penicillin.  Yeast is the responsible for the rising of bread and for brewing beer.
  3. Mosses: They grow about 3 to 5 millimeters.  It consist of root-like structures called rhizoids, are upright stalk, and leaf-like structures.  They are not consider as roots and leaves by botanists.  They always grow in big colonies usually in the places where there is plenty of moisture.  They reproduce by means of sports.  Belonging to the same group are the liverworts (Marchantia).  They belong to phylum Byrophyta.
  4. Ferns: They live in cool damp, and shady places.  They do not produce seeds, but they reproduce by means of spores.  Some grow in tropical rain forests reach a a height of 16 meters and the leaves grow to about 4 meters.
  5. Land Plants: They belong to big group called trachephyte.  They are categorized into the flower-bearing plants (angiosperms) and seed-bearing plants (gymnosperms).  The angiosperms are subdivided into monocots and dicots.  Monocots’ leaves have parallel veins and their seeds contain one cotyledon.  Dicots’ leaves have netted veins and their seeds contain two cotyledons.

Our Need From Plants Are:

  1. Food
  2. Oxygen
  3. Materials for shelter
  4. Materials for clothing
  5. Colorful surrounding
  6. Medicine for common ailments

    I’m sure you tried hard but the information isnt correct.
    Fungi and Algae are completely different from plants and belong to a different kingdom. (Algae is a protist, not a plant).

    And you have a picture of a Volvox colony which is a protist not a plant.
