Grass is a common element of many home landscapes, forests, and roads. Although grass is small there are many different types of grasses which can be found in many different parts of the world. They are each adapted to live in there own environment. Some forms of grass are also created to require low amounts of maintenance.

  1. Kentucky Bluegrass

    Kentucky Bluegrass (also called Smooth Meadow-grass) is one of the most common types of grass that can be found across North America and Europe. It is often used to grow high-quality lawns in sunny areas, and is often mixed with perennial rye grasses to produce stronger lawns.

  2. Bent Grass

    Bent grass is the type of grass that was created to be used on golf courses. As it grows low, it requires a small amount of mowing to keep short. As such it is the type of grass that is most commonly found on golf greens.

  3. Red Fescue

    Festuca rubra (commonly know as Red Fescue) is a type of grass that can be found world wide in many different habitats. It can be commonly found in colder regions, and uses very little water to keep healthy.

    Carpetgrass is grass that is native to the subtropical areas of North America. It grows on sandy and slightly acidic soil. Its low maintenance quality allows it to grow well in parks and along roadsides.

  5. Zoysia

    Zoysia is the type of grass that is native to Southeast Asia and Japan. It was named after a botanist named Karl von Zois. It is well know for being a strong turf grass, and it is also commonly be found along many seashores.
