The one animal who everyone thinks is scary is the spider. Its amazing the littlest thing scares people. They are bugs but they are not insects, insects have six legs and spiders have eight.

Why are we scared of these creatures? This is a very common question, but no one ever asks it. People are often scared of spiders because of the way they look, there eyes are black, and their fangs and legs can seem big especially when they are on you, there body seems bigger and more dangerous. Though, this isn’t the only reason why people are scared of them.

Being scared of spiders is called having Arachnophobia. Some symptoms of having arachnophobia are: screaming/yelling or when you see a spider you may jump up and away, react whenever they see one, like flinching. There are ways of treating arachnophobia, easy training exercises that can be done to scare away the fear!

The real truth is that spiders are very timid creatures, unless provoked. Most spiders will just start to scurry away and hide. But if you were to mess around with a venomous spider (poisonous) like the black widow, you may get bitten as a defense.

Spiders don’t eat people; at least they don’t eat people regularly. They will spin a circular web in a unique form. They will sit in the middle of the web and wait for insects that happen to fly into it. After they catch something they will quickly climb towards the animal and spin it around in a web over and over until that insect is covered in their web. After that they stick their fangs into their prey and allow venom to turn the insect’s insides into a liquid. This makes it digestible; spiders can only “eat liquids”. However if they have an unsuccessful time in their hunt for food they will eat there web so they may keep going and may have a better time somewhere else.

No animal lives forever, same goes for the spiders, they may not live forever but like all animals they have offspring to keep there species alive. Most spiders don’t get to live to see there babies. Some spider females will eat their mate, and sometimes females will die after having there eggs. Males try hard not to get eaten by females but impressing her, but some males want her to eat him because he wants her to be well fed. Where some females may die after having there eggs, some stay alive to protect the eggs by putting the egg sac on their backs and dragging them around. The females can have up to 3000 eggs!! Sadly most spiders die after mating.

Everyone should get spider bites checked out by experts, if you start feeling weird symptoms. Just because people may be scared of them doesn’t mean they are there to hunt you down it just means there doing what everyone else is doing, getting food, mating, and sleeping! Still, even though spiders may not seem harmless, that doesn’t mean you should just go up to one and let it crawl on you, it can be hard to identify what specious of spiders are around your area, so be cautious. You may be scared of them but they are more scared of you, don’t let your guard too high or too low!

However they can be great pets to show off at friends and family. =D
