Aging.

The physiological and emotional changes that occur with aging. Cells are programmed to die under specific situations, a procedure called apoptosis. It would appear that an interaction between genetics and environment determines the timing and rate of apoptosis. Apoptosis usually is gradual, providing a slow but progressive diminishment of function. The alterations that result become apparent at about midlife (40s and 50s). Additional circumstances shape the changes of aging too, such as diseases and injuries. And as the body�s structure slowly changes, it might be more susceptible to both disease and injury. Normal, observable changes regarding aging include:

� Presbyopia. The eyes gradually lose their ability to accommodate distance in focusing, producing an lack of concentration on close objects. Presbyopia becomes apparent around age 45.

� Decreased lean muscle. Androgens support a male�s muscle mass by increasing protein anabolism (growth) and decreasing protein catabolism (destruction). Androgen levels peak at about age 25, and they slowly decline. Muscles follows suit. Increased unwanted fat often accompanies decreased muscular mass because the body�s metabolism also shifts. Regular physical exercise gets to be more crucial to maintain muscular mass along with muscle strength and tone.

� Modifications to hair growth.
