African Elephant is TWO Species?!?

Maybe you can have your cake and eat it too…

The long debate on whether forest dwelling elephants and Savannah dwelling elephants are one species or two has finally come to a close. Seperated for decades, these elephants are different in habits, weight, and apparently, genetics.

Scientists say that the divergence of the African elephant came around the same time as when Asian elephants split from the woolly mammoth. Also, the split between the bush elephants and the Savannah elephants is almost as old as humans and chimpanzee’s! THATS CRAZY!!!!

From comparing DNA sequences of the two different land mammals, scientists have proven that there is actually a change in the two, and they are separate species.
