Wanna have fun with cells, follow my lab!
Title: How can I compare the structures in a cell to something in my life?
Purpose: To identify the structures and function of the plant or animal cell. To come up with an analogy that represents the cell and all of it organelles.
Materials: One green sheet of construction paper 19 by 12 inch.
Pencil and pen
Procedure: My model is a plant cell.
Some problems that I had with the model is getting the green construction paper, finding out how the cells functions and organelles will go with soccer.
Some helpful suggestions are figuring out how you are going to label the model and how you’re going to figure out what goes where.
Data: A. The following is the key to my cell:
The coach= nucleus
The ribosomes= Passing spectators
Endoplasmic reticulum= over cautious parents
Mitochondria= Star forward of the soccer team
Chloroplasts= the concession stands near
Golgi complex= the assistant coach
Vacuoles= Team mom
Lysosomes= Soccer players
Cell wall= White line
Cell membrane= Field
Conclusion: The purpose of this project was to identify the structures and functions of the plant cell and to come up with an analogy that represents the cell and all of its functions. I learned that the plant cell is similar to the sport Soccer because of the many similar people and functions in the sport. I chose this specific analogy because it will be fun and easy because I know much about the cell and Soccer. I also chose this analogy because I think I would be able to make a very cool soccer poster.
Here are the analogy descriptions: The coach is like the nucleus because the coach is the head of the team and he orders the team around. The ribosome are like the passing spectators because usually while there’s a soccer game on, some people might start to watch and then more people will start to watch thus making a crowd of regular people into cheering people. The endoplasmic reticulum is the over cautious parents because they will always go to the injured player and nurses them back to health so he can go play again. The mitochondria are like the teams striker because he is like a powerhouse player who is always challenging his opponents and scoring goals. The chloroplasts are like the concession stands at a soccer tournament that sells burgers and hotdogs. The Golgi complex is like the assistant coach to my team because he is the one who tells the players who he’s going to put in the field and whose not. The vacuoles are like the team mom because she holds all of the team pictures and Soccer stuff. The lysosomes are like the soccer players because they go up against their opponents and work hard to get to the ball by playing physical and smart. The cell wall is the white line that marks the field because nobody is allowed to go into the field or out without permission. The cell membrane is like the talent scouts because they interact with the some other people and ask them whose being noticed the most. He also lets soccer players in and out of the soccer team he wants them in. And lastly the cytoplasm is like the field because the soccer players are connected to it and that it’s just inside the membrane.
