163 New Species
Over 1,200 NEW Species found from 1997-2009 in the Mekong Region.
The Cat Ba leopard gecko is found exclusively in Cat Ba Island National Park in northern Vietnam.
Newly explored region of Mekong has come up with 163 more NEW species!! It is amazing how we are discovering so many new animals that we had no clue about. The only reason we never discovered them before is because of the Territory’s its in Korea, Thailand etc. In this new giant species list they found from Lizards with leopard print to Frogs with Fangs to hunt birds!
The Odessa barb’s name refers to its first appearance in the aquarium trade in Odessa, Ukraine.
It is awesome that we have found these creatures but it might be gone quick, the animals habitat is getting taken away from Farmers, Government, Rising waters and more! The WWF is trying there best on creating a plan to save these new species.
The khorat big-mouthed frog is known for lying in wait for prey in streams.
The new species discovered are in the list of 100 plants, 28 fish, 18 reptiles, 14 amphibians, two mammals and one bird species. Allot if you think about it, all these new species just discovered. Imagine all the UNcharted land in the world, how many species that have been sitting UNdiscovered, makes you think; is Big Foot possible? Is the Loch Ness Monster possible?
All I got to say is live life and venture to new places and discover things for yourself instead of reading about them. Be the first person to catch a Yeti etc. Life is only for so long, once you enter heaven you will know to much to want to learn.
