The Moon

The moon has been a object of wonder ever since the first time man looked up. A lot has been learned since we first saw it in the night sky, you will learn more while reading this.

The moon is the earth’s satellite; the moon gives the earth light at night by the reflection of light from the sun. The moon has been interesting many observers for since the birth of man. Many civilizations used the moon to tell them the time and the days. We call this a lunar calendar that shows the day based on the moon. In 1969 we stepped foot on the moon. We found that it is not what we thought it was going to be like.

How was it formed?

There are many theories to how it formed, they include that both the earth and moon formed out of the same materials. Another is that the earth was 90% its current mass and it out put material and that material formed into our moon. Yet another one is that the moon formed in another part of the solar system and was captured by the earth’s gravity. The most likely is that of the big impact theory, we know that earth was hit by debris and that made it mass. The Big Impact Theory is a theory that a big object about the size of mars hit the earth. That reshaped it and started the earth spinning then 2 days later it hit the earth again and the earth took the iron from it and the rest went around the earth. We think that it took about a year for the debris to come together and form our moon. So long and read my next article.
