The International Space Station is in Trouble…AGAIN

The new cooling system has a problem that could destroy the electronics on board. At nearly the same time the International Space Station began having problems, the sun got very active. Do you believe in coincidences?

Update 8/11/10:

Well, it has happened again. See story from April, below this update. Once again, we saw action from the sun and once again, the ISS is having problems. Today, they are doing a second space walk, to fix the problems that arose in July, when a cooling pump failed. A third space walk will still be needed, even if all goes as planned today.

The cooling pump failure is not life threatening to the astronauts, at the moment, but it is critical for the electronics. If the electronics over heat, they will be ruined. 3 Russians and 3 Americans are working to fix the problems now. The second (current) space walk was initially delayed, but is now underway.

(4/14/10) The ISS (International Space Station) is having a very bad day. It seems that the new cooling system that they installed is not working. If the problem is not fixed, most of the electronics on board will be destroyed and the ISS will need to be evacuated. They are currently working on the situation and may need to do a space walk.

Now, what they fail to mention is that we are experiencing major solar activity right now. A little over 24 hours ago, the sun put on an amazing show. An enormous solar flare was caught on SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory). The massive flare sent a CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) into space. Do you believe in coincidences? I do not.
