The Earth is Beneath Us
Discover the Earth.
Did you know that astronauts are floating above the Earth and are capturing stunning pictures of Earth from outer space? They are just using small cameras to show how our world is changing. The unique photographic experience shows cities around the world (such as New York, Beijing) from the best view that man will ever get.
Simple cameras have been used to take photos from outer space for more than fifty years but with today’s technology you get more detail and beauty out of every one. The space station moves about ten kilometres per second and these experienced astronauts have learned skillfully the ways of taking photos as both the station and the Earth’s surface are moving. Also, not only do these live-riskers go into space and take pictures, they live inside the International Space Station, which hovers above Earth, and are documenting the environmental and urban changes around the Earth’s surface.
These astronauts specify in looking out for geological, oceanographic, environmental and meteorological changes and capture them using the latest technology in photographic equipment from the windows of their space home. The CEO (Crew Earth Observations) team at the Johnson Space Centre send useful data to the astronauts about which areas they need to target. Mainly, this is done if their is a weather problem or us Earthlings just being curious. The pictures are taken twenty four hours a day to show how the landscape of the land as well as the Earth’s atmospheric layers, are changing over the years.
