The Anatomy of a Black Hole

A black hole is a star that has exploded or died. After a star dies, it just doesn’t stay a burnt out rock floating in space. Well some do, but more often than not they will explode, causing a Black Hole.

They are currently experimenting with the atom colliding machine that the French and the Swiss Alps 10km’s below the surface of the mountains on an artificial axis that is 17km in diameter. They have teamed up and pumped millions into it to see it break down at the end of 2008 shortly after they fired it up. What this machine does is hold two atoms on two axis just a few inches apart separated from each other with the gravitational pull in the one pipe. They have mastered the use or electricity to strengthen or weaken the magnetic pull allowing them to send two atoms in opposite directions at the speed of light, slowly inching them towards each other until they smash off of each other creating a small black hole on earth well under the earth in the French alps.

Is this a safe thing to do ? The truth is no body knows what’s going to happen it has been said that it could create a black hole on Earth and the planet could swallow itself, scientists that are working on the project say that its perfectly safe, that there may be a small chance that a black hole could form but it wont be long lived once they cut the power to it they say that it will die. I would love to know where they got that idea from once a hole is formed its formed and you can throw all the magnets you like at it that still wont save us.

Another thing that I would like to know is who gave them permission to do this ? I sure as hell no I didn’t give them permission to put the planet in jeopardy. They have been working on this project for the last 25 years and they only told us before they started it up and weather you wanted to close it down or shut it off they would tell you no. Is there a risk with this experiment ? There is always a big risk when you don’t know what to expect from an experiment, that’s why they are called experiments I guess.

They nearly got the atoms to the speed of light in their artificial axis atom colliding machine when it broke down, maybe this was a sign from God if you believe in that sort of thing, the scientists didn’t think so, and are working on fixing the problem and starting it all over again. Maybe they have got everything figured out and wouldn’t be doing it unless it was safe but as you will find as you read on is that they are very unpredictable even the ones in the far reaches of space the more you feed them the more they grow.

I am not here to tell you weather this is the right or wrong thing to do, just to shed a light on the subject and you can make your own mind up.

The Anatomy Of A Black Hole

There are two main processes that fuel most stars:

Nuclear fusion

This is what keeps the star burning when the star has used up all of its hydrogen then GRAVITY will take over, when GRAVITY takes over the star will become unstable start to collapse. It implodes, blows up inwards as to explode meaning outwards. Bigger stars burn faster and hotter and when they use up all the hydrogen they implode causing a supernova. Once the star starts to implode all its atoms turn inwards resulting in a BLACK HOLE.

Stars have to be at least three times the size of our sun before they will collapse into a BLACK HOLE. any star that is smaller than that just becomes a neutron star or a white dwarf.

BLACK HOLES can be detected by using a technique called GRAVITY LENSING this means that when a BLACK HOLE passes by the earth and a star in the back round it acts as a lens making the distant star seem much closer and brighter. This is the only way you can see a BLACK HOLE in space.

When the BLACK HOLE is sucking material into it the material forms a disc like appearance. The material gains energy from falling gravitational field becoming that hot that it produces x ray radiation.

If you were to throw a penny into a black hole it would appear to slow down and stop just before the event horizon, with out ever going into it. This is because after the penny has gone into the horizon the light from the penny meaning the view as we see it is taking a lot longer to reach your eyes this is because of the extreme gravity at the horizon holding it back. The penny has already gone through.

Inside the black hole the gravitational pull has stretched the penny thinner and thinner as it gets closer to the singularity.

The penny will do one of three things it will pull its self apart and become one with the hole.

The penny will break itself apart and spray out the other side with a big burst of energy.

The third is that the massive singularity creates a worm hole a door way into another dimension or to galaxies millions of light years away.

Black holes are a fascinating and mysterious and from above you can take your pick because none of them have been proven but this is why they are doing it in France & Switzerland, well one of the reasons is to figure something out about them and the big bang theory. Is this safe simply I couldn’t tell you everything that we go looking for and all the answers we seek are kept from us. I know I don’t like doing anything that I have no idea about and I’m sure you are the same. I just want you people to know what’s going on around you.

This blows the stars hydrogen outward from the core of the star GRAVITY this pulls the hydrogen back into the core of the star and recycles it

Interesting information. This has been making the rounds in blogs and news articles, very “now” topic. Who gave permission is a very good question; also, who “they” are–the people conducting the experiments.

I will think of this every time I watch reruns of Stargate! :-)

I didn’t know they were trying to create a black hole. I thought they were trying to create a new universe by recreating the Big Bang.

Something I see is common among people questioning the safety issue of Large Hadron Collider is their refusal to do the math. To get a grasp about of how safe this collider is, doing the math is really necessary.

Of course accident can happen (where it can’t ?) but if we do the math and the probability is smaller than the probability of an asteroid the size of Australia to hit us (which consequence is as bad), then worrying about it is as useless.

    Good article though.

This is a good issue to get emotional about and ask; “who authorised this project on behalf of the rest of the inhabitants of this planet?” But likewise; who authorised the construction of nuclear and biological weapons? Who authorised genetic engineering and manipulation? These fields of science have an equal potential to destroy humanity.

    1. The LHC went down due to a short circuit that caused heat to build up and rupture the pressure vessel that contains the coolant for the entire apparatus. Not really a fate thing unless you’re nuts.

    2. Anthony: Governments authorized nuclear and bio weapons. Ethical committees give authorization over genetic engineering and manipulation projects. And on the whole, the benefits of these technologies (nuclear power, antibiotics, human insulin production via genetically engineered bacteria, more productive crops) outweigh the mad-scientist factor.

Great subject to discuss. This experiment has been in the works for a long time. Yes, it will be interesting to see the results.

This truly is a great subject, I like the question you put to ‘them’…but like Anthony said, who gave any of those jokers the right to put us all into danger? They do a lot of dangerous things in the name of science.

    Wonderfully written Steve!
