Space Exploration is Not a Waste of Money
Space exploration is not a waste of money or resources. Without it, your life would be very inconvenient and the human race would be nowhere near where it is today.
Space exploration is not a waste of money. In fact, USA spends only 1% of the budget on space exploration. If it was not spent, instead of a person in need getting a dollar from the government, they would get a dollar and 3 cents. Does this make that much of a difference?
Colonization
Space exploration is not a waste of money because it will be the place to turn to for colonization. After many years, earth will not be able to accommodate the human race because of the exploding population, but Mars will. People want to investigate Mars, and if it will be safe to travel there. One of the biggest dangers of such a long expedition is the radiation, but with today’s improving technology, this problem will likely be solved. If colonization is possible on Mars and we capitalize on it, the money we spend on space exploration now will be justified. Would you rather die of overheating or overcrowding or would you rather plan early to avoid this situation?
Technology Innovations
There have been many technological innovations due to space exploration and research. Things such as kidney dialysis and the new artificial heart have been based on technology found in space shuttles. Without this research, thousands of lives would have been lost. Whether spending so much money to save a life is subjective. How much would you give up to save a single life? Now consider the fact that tens of thousands of people around the world are still alive because of the research that has been done.
Satellites and Convenience
Space exploration is not a waste of resources or money because we have launched significant satellites. These satellites help us predict any hazardous weather conditions and provide services such as television and communications. Tsunamis, cyclones or hurricanes would have damaged many lives but this ability to predict these disasters have prevented such a thing happening. And not to mention the convenience this has gifted to humanity. Satellites are one of the most important things that can keep everyone connected with each other.
Gaining resources
Space exploration might even eventually start gaining resources. The money we’re spending now will help in the long run. We probably will eventually start mining from space rocks such as asteroids, meteors, comets and planets. The minerals will help take pressure off the high demand on earth. The price of oil might decrease significantly and you will help the needy with the saved money.
Curiosity
The curiosity of humans lead us to do brilliant things. It is the reason for space research. The information that has been gathered has only fuelled this curiosity. Curiosity is the root to all sciences. Archaeology, biology, chemistry, physics and many other branches of science only exist because of curiosity. Without this need to learn, the human race would still be in the Stone Age. Sir Isaac Newton was curious about the falling apple and why it fell. Intense curiosity has made us do big things. Space exploration will lead to a big thing too.
Space exploration is not a waste of resources because it will eventually help us gain resources, help us colonize other planets and give us convenience by using satellites. Space exploration is the key to the future and we will reap the rewards of this necessary investment of money and resources.

Priority number one is to get a sustainable way of living here on earth, and get the population growth and mass consumption under control. If we deplete our resources here, nobody will get to Mars or wherever.
What will this period of time be called, let’s say 10 000 years from now is humans are still alive? The dark ages of resource destroying?

To expand on the reason regarding resources: “Another reason why space exploration has only helped Earth ..While she slowly dies.. is because with space exploration there is the potential to gain resources through mining. With the potential to mine from space rocks the minerals would help take pressure off the high demand of oil on earth, thereby reducing the cost and need drastically. The money saved by this could, perhaps, be the money that helps end poverty.”

Space Exploration is Not a Waste of Money
by Abu, Sep 30, 2007
Space exploration is not a waste of money or resources. Without it, your life would be very inconvenient.
Space exploration is not a waste of money. In fact, USA spends only 1% of the budget on space exploration. If it was not spent, instead of a poor person getting a dollar, he would get a dollar and 3 cents. Does this make that much of a difference?
Colonization
Space exploration is not a waste of money because it is the place to turn to for colonization. After many years, earth might not be able to accommodate the human race, but mars will. People want to find out about mars, and if it will be safe to travel there. If colonization is available on Mars then all the space exploration will be worth it. Would you rather die of overheating or overcrowding to death or would you rather plan early to avoid this situation? I think the answer is obvious.
Technology Advancements
Space exploration is not a waste of money because there have been many technological advancements due to space exploration and research. Things such as kidney dialysis and the new artificial heart have been based on technology found in space shuttles. Without this research, many lives may have been lost due to kidney or heart failure. Space is not a waste of money because there have been many necessary technologies stemming from it.
Satellites and Convenience
Space exploration is not a waste of resources or money because we have launched important satellites into space. These satellites help us predict any hazardous weather conditions and provide services such as television and communications. Tsunamis, cyclones, hurricanes or tornados would have damaged many lives but because we have been. And without the satellites, you wouldn’t have the ease of just switching on your television set and checking if it’s a good day to go fishing or watching the 20/20 world cup. People can pay a lot for their convenience. You would not sacrifice your own conveniences for a starving person in Africa.
Gaining resources
Space exploration might even eventually start gaining resources. The money we’re spending now might really help in the long run. We probably will eventually start mining from space rocks such as asteroids, meteors, comets and planets. The minerals will help take pressure off the high demand on earth. The price of oil might decrease significantly and you will help the needy with the saved money.
Curiosity
The curiosity of humans leads us to do many things. It is probably the reason for outer space research. The evidence that has been gathered supporting interesting information has just fuelled this curiosity. Curiosity is the root to all sciences. Archaeology, biology, chemistry, physics and many other braches of science were only done because of curiosity. Without curiosity, the human race might still be in the Stone Age. Isaac Newton was curious about the falling apple and why it fell. Big curiosity has made us do big things. Space exploration might lead to a good thing too!
Space exploration is not a waste of resources because it will eventually help us gain resources, help us colonize other planets and give us convenience by using satellites. Space exploration is the key to the future and we will reap the rewards of this necessary investment of money and resources.

On June 22, 2009 at 7:11 pm
Ahhhh. Internet in the classroom put to good use. Anyways, investigations into the universe around us are only going to help us. Sending any living creature into our solar system or beyond is simply unwise for these reasons:
We have already been out there and conducted thousands of scientific experiments and apparently already set foot on the moon.
What we have learned showed us that none of our neighboring planets are habitable. It has also shown that we are unimagineably far away from our closest neighboring solar system.
Because we are so far away and it takes so long for even light to travel from these systems, it prepostorous to consider “moving” to one. It would take too long to get there assuming we built a ship big enough.
Instead of spending the annual !% of the government budget on space travel and exploration, let’s spend that on observation and further developent of the technologies and data we have accrued so far .
Build me a space worthy ship capable of leaving earth’s atmosphere and reentering multiple times without aid of booster rockets and re-outfit following every reentry and I’ll show some interest in seeing new places in the universe around us…first hand.
On June 30, 2009 at 8:35 am
OooooooHaaaaa!!!!!!!
So, space exploration can lead to colonization of places like Mars!!
Let’s see. It took about 6 millions years for earth to form an atmosphere capable of supporting life.
When our guys and gals set foot on mars, they can grow plants in a great big bubble where oxygen can be produced, then, after for a period of about 6 million years, release it into the dead atmosphere outside, and voila!!!!!!! Humans will be able to exist>
You got the time to wait???????
On June 30, 2009 at 8:41 am

Looks as if this site is just another meeting place for a bunch of immature little kiddies to tiitilate each other. (Look it up)
On July 21, 2009 at 3:33 pm
I would posit that the technologies discovered in space may have been discovered on earth anyway given time. We cannot definitively say for sure can we??

Space exploration is the key to the future and we will reap the rewards of this necessary investment of money and resources.

i believe that space is not a waste of money, i mean common, noone knows even if there is things out there, and besides, space has helped us learn things in the past, even the present, and it will only get better in the future

I would posit that the technologies discovered in space may have been discovered on earth anyway given time. We cannot definitively say for sure can we??
People from (a half of the world).(I am of course talking about the Northern Hemisphere) sucks?
Great article btw
I believe that space exploration is not a waste of money. It is our (what everybody said abou space exploration not being a waste of money)
Sorry I just had to do that.I was blkmie(screwed up word you shouldn’t be seeing). If any1 could delete this article, please do.
