Reality Show on Mars! are They Serious?

Can humans be actually sent to Mars with the current technology we have, let alone be shooting a reality show.

Reality Show on MARS! Are They Serious?

A Dutch company has aimed to send people to MARS by the year 2023, seven years ahead of NASA’s target; in hopes to shoot a reality show on people when they touchdown mars. They’ll search for volunteers from next year. But the only hiccup; IT’S A ONE-WAY TRIP.

True, the people who would be sent successfully will have to live the rest of their lives in Mars, under TV scrutiny. Seems like a Big Brother’s MARS version, isn’t it? The start-up called Mars One has won the backing of 1999 Nobel Physics prizewinner Gerard’t Hooft. While other experts remain skeptical, Gerard said;”My first reaction was: THIS WILL NEVER WORK. But a closer look at the project convinced me. I really think this is possible.”

The man behind Mars One, Bas Lansdorp; has estimated the total cost. That would be around $6 billion; twice as much as the Curiosity’s expedition, which recently landed on Mars on 5th August.

For Lansdorp, the conquest of Mars is the most important step in Human history, even if we overlooked the fact that many aspects of Mars One still remain uncertain.

To go on Mars; and live the rest of the lives there for a TV show. Many think it’s just for monetization to say the least. But as per Lansdorp’s plan; astronaut training, a 3-month long space journey and then televising their lives via TV under the ‘Big Brother’ banner seems to be the priority.

Many experts will be later recruited for this purpose. And if all goes according to the plan; they will start looking for volunteers from next year, train them, prepare the entire robotic vehicle and equipments and the BLAST OFF TO MARS from 2016 to 2022. First a group of 4 men and 4 women would be sent to set foot on Mars on April 2023. Many would be sent later behind them until there is a colony of 20 a decade later. Then they’ll conduct their experiments.

Well, merging of media and aerospace sounds interesting. But for the world we live in; reality is far more important than dreams. But then, dreams create reality. Who knows, Mars One may succeed 11 years later. Till then, we can hope for the best.

They can’t be serious. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one to see if they actually do spend the billions on Mars!

People are so irritating with Reality. I was hoping the Reality shows would be gone by next week LOL. I doubt they will, but in this world, who would really be surprised. Great article and perspective. Thanks! :)

I personally would love to go to mars, I would volunteer in a heart beat just for the opportunity to leave out of our atmosphere and view our planet and moon from space. At my age it would be well worth it to travel through the creation of almighty God’s handy work. Sign me up please I’m ready.
