Magic Nature

I don’t know where you’ll have a Spring break, but I know where I will -the Valley of Jerte will be really a good bet.

So, the sky showed during the Aurora Borealis.

Starry night in Co. Donegal.

Valley of Jerte in Extremadura in Spain.

This magic show of Nature showed up on last weekend. The inhabitants in County Donegal, as I guess in Scandinavia too, were able to be the privileged people to watch the Aurora Borealis or as it is popularly known as the Northern Lights. Many of them in what the Irish call the independent county, that is, County Donegal , were able to get out to catch something that happens every few years. Loaded with cameras, they settled to spend the night watching the changing lights on the sky.

How I would have liked to be in one of these spots. Yet, I had to be contented with watching it on you tube and reading few news on the newspapers in the following morning.

But despair not. It seems that winter is leaving us to dock on other lands. Those folks are also entitled to have a bit of cold, frost, long nights and short days. I bet they will delighted to spend their evenings by the fireplace, radiator or whatever they use to warm up. The may welcome a bit of cold after the summer they had. Meanwhile…

On this part of the globe,  we are all set to celebrate the carnivals, St. Patrick, St. Joseph and whatever comes along its way. We’ll be happy to end hibernation and to go out for no reason at all.

In the parks, the trees are starting to rebirth after their wintry sleep. I can’t imagine how it must be some miles away far from the city’s traffic and smoke.

I don’t know where you’ll spend the new season ahead of us, but I know where I will. Having browsed on Aer Lingus flight deals, I thought it might be a good idea to board on one of their planes to splash into the craic of Paddy’s Day in “dirty, old town”.   but even though, they are good enough, I said; careful, they don’t fit in your pocket, yet. So, it’ll have to be a domestic Spring break.

The Valley of Jerte will be a good bet where in the Spring, over one thousand cherry trees are in full bloom, covering the whole of the valley as though snow had fallen in it.

Romans called this place the valley of pleasure and one isn’t surprised, because they knew what good life was all about.

It is one for those rare people who love breathtaking mountainous landscape, ancient monuments that speak of times past and to crown it all good gastronomy with great wines to swallow it all.

I hope you liked this one and are kind enough to have your say no matter what.
