How to Calculate The Distance to The Moon

Follow the steps and you’ll find out.

We have all wondered at least once how does the universe look like, how does the moon look like, how does the sun look like and how do all the galaxies in our gigantic universe look like. Let me show you a simple thing that I have learned during my high-school studies. HOW TO CALCULATE THE DISTANCE TO THE MOON!

Tape a small coin like a dime to a window and view it with one eye so that it just blocks out the full moon. This occurs when your eye is about 110 coin diameters away. Then the ratio of coin diameter/ coin distance is about 1/110. Geometrical reasoning of similar triangles show this is also the ratio of moon diameter/ moon distance. So the distance to the moon is 110 times the moon’s diameter
