Future in Space

We have dropped the shuttles to pursue building a small colony on the moon.

Man has landed on the Moon, satellites have helped conquer distances on Earth and space probes have helped expand our knowledge about the other planets in the Solar System. But greater ambitions remain unfulfilled. Scientists have been long working to realize their dream of setting up a base on the Moon or on Mars. Although no one has returned to the Moon since 1972, the first manned base may become operational by 2050.

Scientists on the first lunar base would be engaged in mining minerals on the Moon. Many countries are now promoting space tourism. The first space tourist was Dennis Tito. After the Moon, our next step will be the red planet-Mars.

This is an artist’s impression of what a lunar base will look like after human settlement. The base might start off as a laboratory on Moon but it is bound to develop into a larger base. This will further develop into a city with hotels and homes for permanent settlers.

Scientists are planning a mission to Mars. A Martian base may look like this.
