Explosions and Collisions of Our Universe
The universe is all; everything that surrounds us, everything that exists, has existed, or will ever exist. Astronomers explore the spectacular, while fearful, blasts, explosions, and collisions that occur within it.
The universe that we live in is surprisingly difficult for one to imagine, in terms of its indefinite vastness and the countless objects that simply float around inside. No one really understands it; rather, numerous scientific theories have arisen from its mysterious being.
Stars, galaxies… Who really knows how complicated the universe itself actually is? For all we know, it may truly be all that exists, with no true origin, and no true end. Time may simply be just a way to explain its presence. However, what we do know, is that we live in a universe where cosmological events are all unexpected, and that spectacular things do occur, especially where we least expect them.

Such tremendous explosions are rare, yet they possess a somewhat eerie beauty in themselves. The extraordinary brilliance of the event shines in the strength of thousands of stars, basking the surrounding millions of miles in its powerful light. Although these events are thousands of light years distant from Earth, we are still able to capture these awesome occurrences, viewing them in wonder.

A gamma radiation burst is recorded by satellite and ground telescopic equipment. One of the most powerful explosions known to occur in the entire universe, gamma bursts are known to behave in a manner that puzzles scientists today. They show an unusually slow and tumultuous decay in visible light, lasting weeks – even months, until they finally fade into complete darkness.

The enormous catastrophes that the universe reveals are truly spectacular in both scale and quality. What could be more breathtaking than to see an entire galaxy, the size of our own, collide into another of its same size? Just imagine the greatness of this event, the impact, and the awe in which it beholds.

Clouds of gas and cosmic matter flutter about, almost like leaves in a slow, peaceful wind, combining with each other, fusing themselves into completely new materials. Such is the power of the universe to tether and unify all that exists within it. Over a period of millions of years, one galaxy has the potential to completely rip the other apart gravitationally, utterly annihilating both in the process. The significance of such events in the universe astounds astronomers.
Despite the infinitesimal insignificance of the planet Earth compared with the rest of the universe, it is safe to assume that we understand the complexity of that in which we exist. For the universe is only said to be beyond our possible reach, its limits… limitless. We may only watch how it proceeds through the passages of time itself.
