Mysterious Mars Photo Captures ‘Serendipitous’ Moment – The LA Times reports that one amongst the primary pictures sent back within the Mars Curiosity Rover showed a “faint however distinctive” blotch on the horizon. On ulterior pictures, however, the blotch is gone.
What was that faint smoke within the distance? A martian civilization hurrying underground? A smudge of dirt on the Curiosity’s camera? a chunk of the Rover unmitigated within the distance?
The Lookout reports the blotch remains a mysterious however National Aeronautics and Space Administration includes a few theories.
The area organization free a “crime scene” picture from the Curiosity Rover’s landing web site and believes the smudge among the space is also the “sky crane,” the orbiter that flew the rover to mars, unmitigated to the superior planet.
The LA Times writes:
“The crime scene picture showed that heaven crane had crash-landed, as designed, one or two of,000 feet away-and within the same direction that Curiosity’s camera was pointed if this snapped the terribly initial picture showing the blotch. The new satellite picture conjointly showed that heaven crane, once it crash-landed, kicked up a violent wave of dirt that had scarred the surface of Mars.”
But in step with Curiosity mission manager archangel Watkins, it’s unlikely the Curiosity captured the sky crane within the picture.
Watkins said:
“I don’t suppose you’ll rule it out… It bears trying into. it might be implausibly cool. … A crazy, lucky factor.”
Emily Lakdawalla, senior editor at the Planetary Society, added:
“It’s evidence — however it’s pretty smart specific evidence… it’s like we tend to may very well have seen it, however it’s laborious to understand.”
Here’s the mysterious mars picture. what’s the blotch on the horizon?

Do you suppose the Curiosity captured the Sky Crane falling to the surface of Mars? Or is it simply a specification of dirt?
When the picture was free, National Aeronautics and Space Administration wrote:
“It was taken through a ‘fisheye’ camera lens on one amongst the rover’s rear left Hazard-Avoidance cameras at one-quarter of full resolution. The clear mud cowl on the camera continues to be on during this read, and dirt may be seen around its edge, at the side of 3 cowl fasteners.”
