Antimatter Found Near Earth

This article is about antimatter being found between Earth’s radiation belts.

A small amount of antimatter has been found between Earth’s Van Allen belts. The presence of the anti-protons has long been theorized but until now it remained unverified. However thanks to the Pamela satellite they have now been found.

Launched in 2006 on a mission to study high-energy particles from the Sun and out side the Solar System, the Pamela satellite was also charged with looking for these antimatter particles in an area called the South Atlantic Anomaly. They found thousands of times as much antimatter as could be accounted for by particle decay and other sources.

Estimates are that there could be enough anteater near the Earth to fuel a space craft. Which makes the discovery that much more important. This discovery could allow mankind to go where no man has gone before.
