About Earth Planet
Earth, our home planet, is the only planet whose name is not derived from Greek/Roman mythology. In Roman Mythology, the goddess of the Earth was Tellus – the fertile soil, while the Greek goddess was Gaia, terra mater – Mother Earth. The name we use today, Earth, comes from Old English and Germanic.

Do you know that Earth is a unique planet of the Solar system? The reason is that, it is the only planet which has all the conditions required for the sustenance of life. It is located at just the right distance from the Sun. The Earth alone has developed an oxygen-rich atmosphere and has the right surface temperature that permits water to exist.
These factors have enabled the blue planet Earth to evolve varied life forms.
The Earth is covered by a layer of gases called the atmosphere. It is thin enough to allow Sun rays through it and thick enough to bar the harmful ultraviolet rays. It acts as a solar-powered engine too, transporting and redistributing water around the planet.

Nice pictures mdkshareef!
This planet is the only one we have, and we’re slowly killing it. It’s too bad how we need to be pushed to the brink before we do the right thing.
